Job Summary: As a Veterinary Technician at Cats Only Veterinary Hospital, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality medical care to our patients. This position requires a combination of technical veterinary skills and excellent communication abilities to effectively manage patient care and client interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial evaluations of patient health, including taking vital signs and gathering medical histories.
- Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures; this includes preparing equipment, handling animals, and assisting in surgeries.
- Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including blood draws, urinalysis, and x-rays.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Provide nursing care and post-operative care to hospitalized patients.
- Educate and advise pet owners on pet health, care, and medications.
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain accurate medical records.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (licensed Vet Tech preferred).
- Proven experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions to pet owners.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- A compassionate and positive attitude towards animal care.
