What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Engineering Internship position at Cat-i Glass?
Job Summary:
Cat-i Glass is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Intern Engineer who is motivated to make immediate improvements to current and developing processes in a fast-paced production setting. Process improvement and standardization, automation design and implementation, new machinery acquisition and qualification, high-level production support, and training are of utmost importance to achieving results on improving production rates, yields, and reducing setup times.
Essential Job Functions:
- Drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost through application of Lean principles and practical engineer fundamentals
- Work individually to analyze, design and build custom-engineered components, fixtures, tooling, machinery, or small automated systems used to improve current manufacturing processes
- Work with a team of engineers to specify, acquire, and implement new machinery and automation in a developing manufacturing environment
- Train production supervisors, operators, and maintenance technicians on new or modified machinery or processes
- Communicate across departments and work with various department leads on manufacturing improvements
- Provide essential support to designated production departments and process
Skills and/or Competencies:
- 2D and 3D CAD experience required, Autodesk Fusion360 preferred
- Structured text and/or ladder logic PLC programming experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and Lean manufacturing
- Basic knowledge of industrial machine components (sensors, pneumatic cylinders, motors, servos, PLC, HMI, etc.)
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or an equivalent engineering degree, or currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program.
