Caswell, Plager & Westerhold, LLC (CPW Law) is seeking an Iowa Associate Attorney with at least 2–3 years of legal experience to join our growing workers’ compensation defense practice.
CPW Law is a women-owned law firm focused exclusively on workers’ compensation defense in Nebraska and Iowa. We are seeking an attorney interested in building a long-term practice and becoming an integral part of our collaborative team. Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of Iowa workers’ compensation matters from inception through resolution.
- Analyze claims, medical records, and other case materials.
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and case assessments.
- Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other parties.
- Evaluate claims and exposure and negotiate settlements.
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and paralegals to effectively manage cases and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Iowa Bar and in good standing.
- 2–3 years of legal experience, preferably in workers’ compensation, insurance defense, or civil litigation.
- Strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while working effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service.
