Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying primers to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes using hand tools such as brushes, rollers, spray guns (including airless paint spraying), and power tools
- Read blueprints and schematics to determine project scope and specifications for residential and commercial painting jobs
- Perform surface repairs including plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco application, and masonry work as needed
- Use construction estimating skills to assess project requirements and materials needed for each job
- Execute renovation and restoration projects by working with carpentry, drywall installation, framing, and fixture installation
- Maintain safety standards on construction sites by adhering to protocols related to scaffolding, welding (where applicable), and hazardous materials handling
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction painting across residential, commercial, or industrial settings with construction site experience preferred
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics for accurate project execution
- Skilled in using hand tools such as brushes, rollers, caulking guns, plastering tools, and power tools including airless sprayers
- Knowledge of color theory to select appropriate finishes for various surfaces and environments
- Familiarity with construction estimating techniques for material planning and project timelines
- Ability to perform surface preparation tasks like sanding, scraping, plastering, caulking, and masonry work
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project scope
- Experience with renovation projects involving remodeling or restoration work is advantageous
- Strong understanding of safety practices on construction sites including scaffolding use and hazardous material handling
