Position Summary

- The Program and Permitting Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the permitting process for construction, development, or other regulated projects. This individual ensures that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This individual will act as a liaison between the company, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely project execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Research and identify permitting requirements for various projects, including zoning, environmental,

building, and utility permits.

· Interpret site plans and boundary surveys.

· Request Ecalcs, surveys, truss engineering and approved building plans.

· Prepare, submit, and track permit applications to relevant regulatory agencies and authorities.

· Maintain accurate records of permit status, correspondence, and approvals.

· Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., project managers, engineers, legal) to gather necessary

documentation and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

· Monitor changes in permitting laws and regulations and communicate updates to Management.

· Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and resolve issues or deficiencies related to permit

applications.

· Facilitate meetings and site visits with inspectors, agency representatives, and project stakeholders as

needed.

· Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies to streamline the permitting process.

· Ensure timely renewals, amendments, and closures of permits as required.

· Schedule inspections, contacting utility departments and homeowner relations as requested.

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction

Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· 2 years of experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, or a related field.

· Deep understanding of local, state, and federal permitting processes and regulations.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented

· Ability to manage high volume of projects and meet deadlines.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and permit tracking software.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

 

Preferred Skills

· Experience working with governmental agencies and regulatory bodies.

· Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and reporting.

· Familiarity with GIS or mapping software.

· Problem-solving and negotiation skills.

 

Working Conditions

Program and Permitting Specialists typically work in an office environment but may be required to visit project sites or attend meetings with regulatory officials.

*Occasional travel may be necessary depending on project locations.
