Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cutting of glass using hand tools and power tools, adhering to safety protocols at all times
- Support the assembly and fabrication of stained glass panels according to detailed schematics and blueprints
- Help with the installation of glass pieces, including framing, caulking, and fixture setup on-site or in studio environments
- Operate hand tools, metal saws, grinders, and other equipment necessary for shaping and finishing glass components
- Contribute to construction estimating tasks by measuring materials accurately and preparing necessary supplies for projects
- Perform heavy lifting of glass panels and related materials safely during fabrication and installation phases
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace by managing scrap materials, cleaning tools, and ensuring safety standards are met
Skills
- Experience with construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and general fabrication processes
- Proficiency with hand tools such as pliers, cutters, chisels, and screwdrivers; familiarity with power tools including drills and grinders
- Knowledge of glass installation techniques including framing, caulking, and fixture mounting
- Hands-on experience with construction site work or studio-based manufacturing environments
- Ability to read technical drawings related to carpentry, metal stud framing, door hanging, trim carpentry, cabinetry, remodeling or similar trades
- Strong understanding of safety practices involving heavy lifting, metalworking tools, and handling fragile materials like glass
- Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills in stained glass fabrication and installation
