Senior IT Cloud and Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-minded Senior IT Cloud and Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of critical IT infrastructure in compliance with DoD and industry standards. We are looking for autonomous, self-starting, over-communicators, who can thrive in handling senior level projects end-to-end. You will bring your excellence to a fast-paced environment and your wisdom will help shape critical decisions that strike the right balance with security, speed, and features.

Key Responsibilities

• Own our cloud IaaS and virtualization platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and on-premises platforms.
• Responsible for enabling our internal IaaS customers, like DevSecOps and software engineering. Ensure their creations are secure, compliant, scalable and stable.
• Lead and architect IT infrastructure projects including system deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
• Implement and maintain system hardening in compliance with DoD STIGs, NIST frameworks, CMMC, and more.
• Administer, maintain, and secure Linux and Windows based server environments.
• Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Ensure system availability and disaster recovery through backups, patch management, and redundancy planning.
• Manage Microsoft 365 environment.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during audits, incident response, and vulnerability remediation.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and changes to maintain accurate and secure records.
• Train and mentor junior IT staff, promoting a culture of compliance and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in cloud, systems, and/or network administration in a secure, enterprise IT environment.
• Strong experience designing and managing public cloud and on-premise private cloud.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, and ability to work alongside Network Engineering on implementation of multi-cloud connectivity.
• Strong experience managing Linux and Windows servers and endpoints.
• Experience managing Kubernetes.
• Strong in automation and scripting - ideally tools like PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of virtualization and enterprise storage options.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of monitoring strategies for availability, performance and security.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security or CISSP.
• Active security clearance.
• Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and secure enclave designs.

Work Environment & Conditions

• On-site work; some after-hours/on-call support may be necessary.
• Occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 40 lbs) and data center work.
