Job Description – Laborer
This document is to provide a work description, to include responsibilities along with the knowledge of safety training requirements for the position of LABORER with Castek in Chambersburg Pennsylvania. Responsibilities include:
- Ability to read or listen to instructions provided by Foreman or Plant Manager.
- Cutting materials – manual operation, cutting wood, composite material, foam, steel, aluminum. Safe operation of power equipment.
- Working with composite materials – epoxy, fiberglass, - different variations for certain products. Knowledge of mixing and application.
- Finishing products – drilling, sanding, benching, filling in / patching
- Sandblasting and power washing
- Warehousing and keeping area in clean condition for work. Stacking materials to place on shelves or racks.
- Forklift operation - including training to keep current with OSHA guidelines.
- Unloading and loading trucks
- Cleaning work area or other areas of the building
- Possible welding, or fabrication – not a certified welder.
These are most of the requirements for this position. This is a small business so there may be other tasks related to this type of work. In this case full knowledge of what needs to be done will be communicated to the employee.
Additional details:
- Hourly compensation - employee – 40-hour work week which may include additional overtime depending on workload.
- Working more than 40 hours / week– would be paid additional overtime amount.
- May include travel to customer plants. Special salary consideration for trips,
- Salary based on experience level.
- Performance evaluations provided by plant manager.
- Other benefits include:

- 401K plan – matching 25% up to 5%. Need 1 year service plus certain month of the year to sign up.
