CLASSIFICATION: ATHLETIC COACH/SUPPLEMENTAL

JOB TITLE: HEAD COACH - JUNIOR HIGH CHEER

REPORTS TO: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

CALENDAR: ATHLETIC CALENDAR

SALARY: COACHING AND EXTRACURRICULAR

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  2. DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  3. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

  4. NFHS Course Certificate:  Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate Behaviors

  5. NFHS Course Certificate:  Concussion in Sports

  6. NFHS Course Certificate:  First Aid, Health and Safety

  7. NFHS Course Certificate:  Fundamentals of Coaching

  8. NFHS Course Certificate:  Heat Illness Prevention

  9. Additional course certifications as required by sport type.

Core Job Functions:

  • Plan and conduct practices that develop individual and team athletic skills.
  • Teach sport-specific fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
  • Promote student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, and positive character.
  • Supervise and manage student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.
  • Prepare teams for competitions and coach during games with professionalism.
  • Prioritize athlete safety and follow all injury prevention and emergency protocols.
  • Establish and enforce team expectations aligned with school and district policies.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and athletic staff.
  • Assist with program administration, including equipment, records, and required documentation.
  • Comply with all school, district, and athletic association rules and professional standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Positions in this classification often require physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, and sitting. 
  • The job involves finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability. 
  • Employees may be exposed to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
