Position: Accounting Controller
About the Role
Cast Metals Technology and Fisher Cast Steel are seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Accounting Controller to oversee and manage financial operations across both companies. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a manufacturing environment and works closely with ownership on financial strategy and compliance. This role is on-site with an office in Powell, Ohio.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual income statements for both companies.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Create financial reports to support management decisions.
General Ledger & Account Management
- Manage and maintain GL account codes, ensuring accurate and consistent usage.
- Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor daily and weekly cash positions and forecast cash requirements.
- Manage cash balances, liquidity, and banking relationships.
- Support budgeting and financial planning processes.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Oversee A/P and A/R operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Work with A/P and A/R to manage vendor payments, customer invoicing and collections.
- Resolve financial discrepancies with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Financial Operations & Administrative Oversight
- Manage utility contracts, renewals, and cost reviews.
- Oversee company credit card organization, expense policies, and reconciliation.
- Organize and maintain auto insurance policies
- Perform financial inventory reconciliation to ensure alignment between physical counts and system data.
Benefits, Insurance & Compliance
- Collaborate with ownership on health insurance and workers' compensation plans, including renewals.
- Coordinate with insurance brokers and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a financial partner to company owners and senior management.
- Provide direction and mentorship to accounting staff.
- Work with external auditors, tax professionals, and banking partners.
Work Environment
- This position is based in a small office environment with 2–4 people, requiring both independence and close collaboration with team members and ownership.
- The controller should be comfortable wearing multiple hats and supporting various aspects of day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA not required but a plus).
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of business accounting and internal controls.
- Proficiency with accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, two company environment.
