What You'll Do

As an Inpatient Services Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients across a variety of care settings. You'll utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, coordinate care, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver exceptional outcomes.

In this role, you will:

• Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, and environmental needs while considering age-specific and cultural factors.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans using evidence-based practices.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately in accordance with provider orders and organizational policies.
• Prioritize patient safety by adhering to infection prevention practices, including proper hand hygiene and isolation precautions.
• Manage assigned patient populations, ensuring timely care and appropriate delegation based on patient needs and staff competencies.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge plans using teach-back methods to promote understanding.
• Deliver an outstanding patient experience through AIDET, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and prompt response to patient needs.
• Adapt to changing patient volumes, acuity levels, and staffing needs, including floating to other units as appropriate.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Support the orientation and development of new staff and students through mentorship and positive coaching.
• Participate in continuing education, competency validation, and professional development activities.
• Foster a positive team environment through respectful communication, collaboration, and accountability.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse license or license from a reciprocating state
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications within one year of hire

Preferred Experience

• 1-2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• 1-2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
