Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Representative to sell print advertising for our weekly newspaper serving Rural Cass County. The ideal candidate will have strong client communication skills, basic math proficiency, and a creative, organized approach to sales. This role offers flexibility with work arrangements, including the option to work from home and in-office days. The position involves promoting advertising opportunities across our publication, which reaches over 2,000 subscribers and covers all of Rural Cass County and five local schools. Production days are Mondays, with in-office presence required on Mondays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities
- Engage with clients to promote print advertising opportunities in our weekly newspaper and online E-Edition.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community members to generate advertising sales.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their advertising needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Manage client accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and excellent customer service.
- Use basic math skills to calculate advertising rates, discounts, and billing information accurately.
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet sales targets and contribute to the growth of the publication’s advertising revenue.
- Attend production days in the office on Mondays and Thursdays to coordinate campaigns and participate in team meetings.
- Be persistent and resilient, understanding that rejection is part of the sales process while maintaining a positive attitude.
Qualifications
- Strong client communication skills with the ability to build rapport and understand customer needs.
- Basic math skills for calculating rates, discounts, and billing details.
- Creative mindset with an eye for detail in designing or proposing advertising solutions.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to sales activities.
- Knowledge of Rural Cass County or familiarity with local areas is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently from home and collaboratively in an office environment.
- Previous sales experience is desirable but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
