As an Assistant State's Attorney, your day is a blend of legal expertise, strategic thinking, and community impact. WHAT'S NEEDED FROM AN ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEY?

We're looking for someone who can work 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the North Dakota bar and in good standing by your start date
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • High-quality research and writing skills
  • Quick analytical ability
  • Satisfactory performance in prior employment
  • Ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical issues in a case
  • Ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff, and the courts

Preferred qualifications:

  • Criminal prosecutorial or defense experience
  • Civil legal and appellate experience
  • Law enforcement or related field experience
  • Knowledge of 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments to the US Constitution
  • Strong desire to work in a prosecutor's office
