Job Summary

Casita Restitution Coalition (CRC) is seeking a passionate, organized, and dynamic Nonprofit Coordinator to help build and support a mission-driven nonprofit serving California homeowners affected by contractor fraud, abandonment, and unfinished residential construction projects. CRC exists to help restore safe living conditions and protect families from the financial devastation caused by unethical contractors.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a tangible difference in people’s lives while helping grow an organization focused on construction recovery, homeowner advocacy, and community education. The Nonprofit Coordinator will play a central role in supporting homeowners, organizing case documentation, developing outreach efforts, building strategic partnerships, researching grants, coordinating volunteers, and helping expand CRC’s presence from San Diego County across California.

About Casita Restitution Coalition

CRC was founded on the belief that every family deserves a safe and stable home. Our vision is “A California where no homeowner is left with a dangerous or unfinished home because of contractor fraud or abandonment.” CRC works with licensed contractors, skilled volunteers, and donated or discounted materials to help complete projects safely and up to code, while also guiding homeowners through documentation, reporting, and recovery resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners impacted by contractor fraud, abandonment, or incomplete construction projects
  • Intake and document new cases, gathering timelines, supporting evidence, project details, and recovery needs
  • Maintain organized case files, records, and case outcome tracking
  • Support homeowners through the reporting and recovery process, including coordination with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and other appropriate agencies
  • Help victims document fraud and connect them with referrals and support resources
  • Research and identify grant opportunities related to housing recovery, consumer protection, and community development
  • Assist with grant writing, submission preparation, and funding support efforts
  • Help build strategic relationships with legal aid organizations, housing nonprofits, construction associations, building supply companies, and local government agencies
  • Support the recruitment, coordination, training, and recognition of volunteers and community partners
  • Develop and execute outreach and awareness campaigns that educate homeowners about contractor fraud risks, warning signs, and available resources
  • Assist in planning workshops, educational seminars, community events, silent auctions, fundraising dinners, and online fundraising campaigns
  • Support CRC’s website and social media presence by sharing resources, project updates, success stories, and upcoming events
  • Help collect and analyze data related to case outcomes, outreach efforts, program impact, and growth opportunities
  • Assist with administrative operations including scheduling, reporting, communications, and organizational support
  • Contribute to CRC’s broader mission of project rescue, homeowner support, contractor accountability, and fraud prevention education

Qualifications

  • Passionate about justice, advocacy, housing stability, and community impact
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Tech savvy and comfortable with digital tools, case management systems, spreadsheets, email platforms, websites, and social media
  • Strong public speaking skills and comfortable presenting at workshops, panels, community groups, stakeholder meetings, and public events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with homeowners, volunteers, donors, partners, agencies, and community organizations
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a growing nonprofit environment
  • Experience in nonprofit management, community outreach, social services, legal aid, housing, real estate, or construction-related support is strongly preferred
  • Experience with volunteer coordination, grant writing, fundraising, event planning, donor engagement, or community partnerships is a plus
  • Leadership, training, teaching, or program development experience is highly desirable

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is compassionate, proactive, and mission-driven. They are comfortable balancing direct homeowner support, administrative follow-through, partnership development, and public-facing outreach. They are energized by meaningful work and excited to help build an organization that turns crisis into stability for families whose homes have been left unsafe or incomplete.

Why Join CRC

This is an opportunity to help grow a nonprofit addressing a critical gap in California’s housing support system. CRC’s work is designed to be both scalable and measurable, with near-term goals that include launching outreach channels, beginning intake, securing early funding, identifying pilot projects, and building trusted community partnerships. This role offers the chance to develop your leadership skills while helping create real-world impact for homeowners in need.
