Cashins & Associates, Inc. is looking for a Construction Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with 5 years of construction experience to join our team. The SSHO is responsible for working at sites to collect air-monitoring data to document workers' exposures to dust, volatile organic compounds, and specific chemical contaminants. We are also tasked with an audit of worker safety issues and compliance with all aspects of a site-specific Health and Safety Plan.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Efficiently perform daily surveys of construction sites to assess health and safety issues and audit compliance with the requirements of a Health and Safety Plan.
- Preparing project-related paperwork and documentation, such as chain of custody forms.
- Write clear, concise daily reports in a timely manner. Reports must detail the work done on the site, test results, and compliance issues.
- Utilize appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including respiratory protection devices.
- Work occasional evening and weekend shifts (as needed).
- Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety, construction, engineering, or related field a plus)
- Interest in worker health and safety
- Ability and willingness to complete Hazardous Waste Worker training.
- Basic understanding of construction safety and willingness to learn more.
Ability to perform field work, including:
- Walking construction sites
- Using ladders, working from heights, and accessing confined spaces
- Carrying sampling equipment
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow strict procedures and documentation protocols
Additional Requirements
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, tablet/mobile data entry)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow health and safety requirements, including the use of PPE
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
- A background check will be performed on all candidates.
Preferred Qualifications – Licensed & Experienced
- Five or more years of construction safety experience.
- Proficient in technical writing and documentation, with a solid understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with a broad range of construction safety and industrial hygiene issues commonly encountered during construction safety and industrial hygiene inspections.
- Experience working on both large and small construction sites, commercial/industrial facilities, and/or institutional settings
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Compensation will be based on experience.
