Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Inspector
Position Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for quality inspection activities to ensure all products meet customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for inspecting and ensuring the quality and integrity of assembled valves and components in the plant. This position involves conducting thorough visual and functional inspections of assembled products, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality guidelines. The QC Inspector plays a crucial role in identifying defects, ensuring continuous quality improvement, and supporting the overall production process.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection of Assembled Products:
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on valves and associated components to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Verify that assembly processes follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Inspect all finished valves for proper functionality, appearance, and completeness before they are sent for final approval or shipment.
Measurement and Testing:
- Utilize various measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to confirm that valve dimensions fall within acceptable tolerances.
- Conduct functional testing on assembled valves to verify their performance under various conditions.
- Test for pressure integrity, leakage, and other performance parameters based on product specifications.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Record inspection results and document any deviations from quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection logs, reports, and records in compliance with company standards.
- Provide feedback and reports to supervisors, engineering, and production teams about quality issues or non-conformances.
Defect Identification and Root Cause Analysis:
- Identify and document defects or quality issues in assembled products.
- Work closely with the production and engineering teams to investigate root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor rework or correction processes to ensure defects are adequately addressed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on quality issues, suggesting corrective measures, and identifying areas for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or a technical certification is a plus).
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably as an inspector or quality control professional.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and must have the ability to identify discrepancies or defects in products.
- Experience with ISO or other quality management systems.
- The ability to communicate openly in a team environment in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of automated inspection systems and equipment.
Requirements:
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, or reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to a specified weight (often 25–50 lbs).
- Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for handling tools or materials.
- Ability to operate machinery, equipment, or computers.
- Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs.
Sensory Requirements
- Good vision, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear and communicate clearly in a manufacturing or office environment.
- Ability to work with or near loud noise (hearing protection may be required).
Work Conditions
- Exposure to manufacturing floor environment (noise, dust, temperature variations).
- May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or steel-toe shoes.
- Working near moving mechanical parts or equipment.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles (with safety precautions in place).
- Variable weather conditions if work requires indoor/outdoor movement.
