The Senior Accounting Specialist assists in facilitating payment of the Company’s bills. They will serve as a mentor and provide guidance and direction to the Accounting Specialists.

Compensation: Starting pay range: $23.25 - $30.25. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.
Requirements
The Senior Accounting Specialist assists in facilitating payment of the Company’s bills. They will serve as a mentor and provide guidance and direction to the Accounting Specialists.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the daily workflow needs of Account Payable Specialists or Accounts Receivable Specialists and provide guidance and direction. Mentors staff members on departmental duties. Trained to provide coverage for all staff positions as needed.
- Perform daily invoice and payment processing. Receives, reviews, and verifies accuracy and appropriate approval of payment of invoices. Assists with preparation of monthly account reconciliations and sufficiently documents in accordance with SOX requirements.
- Reconcile discrepancies, and prepare correction documents as needed, by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probably actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts.
- Assist with month end procedures to help facilitate timeliness of reporting.
- Organize departmental duties to meet both daily and monthly deadlines.
- Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are timely and up to date.
- Assist in training and mentorship of new Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialist.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least two years of work-related experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to maintain discipline when performing routine tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft office programs, including Word and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
