The Division Controller position at Casella Waste Systems Inc. offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to drive financial success in our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in cash collection activities, working closely with cash applications and collections personnel.
- Execute internal controls and audits of policies and procedures to safeguard assets and maintain SOX compliance within the Recycling Region.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses of plant finances and prepare reports to inform strategic decision-making.
- Pursue SOX compliance by completing the preparation of financial statements and filings according to company, state, or official rules and regulations.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes to ensure efficiency within assigned cost centers.
- Plan, organize, and guide projects to distribute work among employees effectively.
- Evaluate current accounting operations to identify recommendations or solutions for improvement and implementation of new processes.
- Streamline budget processing through collaboration with account executives.
- Maintain accurate accounting of consolidated business results by managing the accumulation and consolidation of all necessary financial data.
- Lead team members by communicating effectively, setting clear goals and objectives, coaching on achieving goals, and providing access to training and development opportunities.
- Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
- Ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws regarding employment and employee safety.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in finance or another related field is required.
- Candidates must have 5-7 years of business experience with increasing responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment is essential.
- Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the US.
- An advanced degree, relevant sales certifications, and experience in an environmental and/or sustainability field are desirable.
- Excellent relationship management skills, listening, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamic for CRM or similar software and related systems are necessary.
