What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of People Operations position at Case-Mate?
At Case-Mate, we’re a global brand known for premium mobile accessories and a team that operates with speed, ownership, and high standards.
We’re a lean organization by design — which means we don’t hide behind layers, and we don’t default to “because that’s how HR has always done it.”
We stay compliant. We protect the business. But we approach People Operations with practicality, sound judgment, and a focus on what actually works.
This role is about building and running a clean, efficient, and scalable People Operations function — without overcomplicating it.
You’ll partner closely with leadership to ensure our processes support the business, not slow it down.
What You’ll Own
- End-to-end People Operations: payroll oversight, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle
- Building practical, scalable processes that fit how we actually operate
- Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accountability across all HR operations
- Creating clarity in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Partnering with leadership to align people processes with real business needs
How We Operate
- We value judgment over rigid rule-following
- We don’t implement process for the sake of process
- We focus on what drives performance — not checking HR boxes
- We stay legally sound while keeping things efficient and usable
If your default approach is “there’s only one right way to do HR,” this won’t be the right fit.
The Environment
- Lean, high-accountability team
- Fast-paced with evolving priorities
- Direct communication and quick decision-making
- High visibility with leadership
What We’re Looking For
- Strong operator who owns outcomes, not just tasks
- High attention to detail — accuracy matters here
- Comfortable making judgment calls, not just following playbooks
- Able to build structure without over engineering it
- Steady, solutions-focused, and not easily rattled
What Sets You Apart
You’re comfortable working with leaders who ask thoughtful, detailed questions and expect a high level of accuracy and follow-through — and you respond with clarity, not defensiveness.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Processes that are simple, effective, and actually used
- A People function that supports the business instead of slowing it down
- Leadership trust in both your judgment and execution
- A balance of compliance and practicality
Final Gut Check
This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment and prefers smart, practical solutions over rigid HR frameworks.
