We are looking for a dedicated, innovative, and adaptable Preschool Special Education Teacher for our Learning For Life Program, currently located in Bedford, MA, to help enrich the learning experience of our youngest students. The Learning for Life (LFL) Program is a specialized program that addresses the many different cognitive, physical, medical, communication, and social needs of students. Students in LFL have multiple disabilities including complex learning and medical needs. The curriculum helps build independence and includes functional academics and daily living skills. Performance Responsibilities: - Participate in Team reevaluation and annual review meetings for students on caseload and write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). - Complete and coordinate data informed progress reports from service providers for all students, according to the schedule set by the Collaborative, and special education regulations. - Develop and implement schedules for students’ services in accordance with their IEPs’ service delivery; coordinate schedules with specialists. - Select appropriate instructional programs and methodologies, plan, and implement instruction that matches students’ IEP goals and objectives. - Develop and implement curriculum aligned with Frameworks and Common Core Standards. - Provide differential instruction and interventions in the classroom. - Implement appropriate behavior management techniques and/or behavior support plans. - Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications. - Assess and maintain data on progress of all students on caseload and differentiate student goals and instruction accordingly. - Assisting with complex feeding procedures, toileting / diapering and physical transfers - With training utilize adaptive equipment, such as standers, gait trainers, walkers and communication devices and other individualized equipment. - Develop portfolio/s for MCAS alternate assessment, as outlined in student/s’ IEP s. - Determine student educational needs based on appropriate assessments, write reports and present at annual and reevaluation Team reevaluation meetings. - Develop teaching assistants’ schedules in accordance with students’ IEP service delivery grids and needs. - Provide supervision of assigned special education teaching assistants. - Provide evaluative feedback and input regarding teaching assistants, including completion of biannual evaluation forms, to Program Administrator. - Collaborate with students’ special education Team to address transition-related issues and skills and to implement transition services according to the Transition Planning Form (TPF). - When appropriate, integrate MA Career/Vocational Technical Education Frameworks into content across the curriculum. - Consult with parents/guardians, general education teachers, therapists, school nurses, consultants, and teaching assistants regarding planning and students’ program needs. - Participate in Colebrook School Open House for parents/guardians, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities, as appropriate. - Given training by a Registered Nurse and/or training videos, the teacher will use an EpiPen and/or Vagal Nerve Stimulator with the student for whom they were prescribed. - Attend Collaborative-wide and specific program staff meetings, as scheduled by the Program Administrator and/or Executive Director. - Perform other related tasks or duties at the discretion of the Program Administrator and/or Executive Director.
