Position Summary
We are hiring a Mechanical Supervisor to lead our mechanical maintenance program. The position includes overseeing the daily work of our current Maintenance Mechanic. The Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for the repair, optimization, and reliability of our automated food production and packaging equipment and will ensure that the equipment and facility are maintained in top working order and that all repairs and maintenance needs are prioritized and completed in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with our regulations and requirements.
The ideal candidate has direct experience with automated packaging systems, preferably in a food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment, and enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on work. As a 7-day production facility, occasional nights, weekends, or on-call coverage will be required.
Key Responsibilities
*Maintenance Leadership*
- Supervise and support the Maintenance Mechanic
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance tasks, ensuring timely repairs and minimal production downtime
- Coordinate preventative maintenance plans and maintain detailed records of maintenance activity
- Manage the spare parts inventory and vendor relationships
*Equipment Focus*
- Diagnose and repair automated food processing and packaging systems (e.g., form/fill/seal machines, conveyors, scales, wrappers, pumps)
- Lead installation, commissioning, and upgrade projects for new or existing equipment
- Ensure optimization of line efficiency, performance, and product quality
*Facility Oversight*
- Manage infrastructure needs and coordinate with contractors for facility improvements
- Oversee building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and ensure proper facility upkeep
- Coordinate security system functionality, pest control, and other third-party service providers
*Coverage & Availability*
- Serve as part of the rotating on-call coverage team for emergency mechanical issues
- Provide occasional after-hours support as needed to maintain production flow
Minimum Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance, with specific expertise in automated packaging equipment
- Previous experience supervising or leading maintenance personnel or contractors
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC/HMI, and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with safety protocols in a production or food manufacturing environment
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school or technical certifications in electrical, mechanical, or automation disciplines
- Experience in food manufacturing or CPG
- Knowledge of working in clean-room environments, knowledge of food safety systems such as HACCP or SQF a plus
