Position Summary
The Laundry Aide helps create a joyful and vibrant community by laundering residents’ clothing and linens. This position also ensures the laundry rooms are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; lifting 25-40 pounds constantly. Reaching below shoulder height frequently. Kneel; stoop and squat are required occasionally. Stand six out of eight hours.

Essential Job Functions
- Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
- Performs the day-to-day laundry duties as assigned.
- Sorts items and treats stains
- Sorts and folds clean, dried items
- Monitors inventory of laundry supplies and communicates needs to supervisor.
- Practices high standards of cleanliness.
- Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
- Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
- Follows established Infection Control practices when performing laundry procedures.
- Operates and maintains all laundry equipment (i.e., commercial washer/dryer, Steamer, etc.).
- Works safely and recognizes potentially dangerous situations.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. Stays current system assigned tasks and duties.
- Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Current First Aid and CPR.
- Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
- Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision)
- Maintains current food handler’s card.
