Position Description: The General Ledger Accountant at Cascadia Health is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end closing procedures, and preparing financial reports. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the organization's financial data and supporting internal and external reporting requirements.

General
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries for revenue, expenses, accruals, and other financial activities.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including account analysis and reconciliation.
- Generate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to support management decision-making and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure proper coding and classification of transactions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and compliance with accounting standards.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions and account balances.
- Stay current with accounting regulations and standards to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide support for special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with and implement regulations, policies, and procedures under which the organization and department operate.
- Understand fire regulations and evacuation procedures; participate in regular safety drills in compliance with department policies and procedures.
- Document and maintain records in a manner that ensures compliance with all agency policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws, HIPAA and 42CFR regulations requirements.
- Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis.
- Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings.
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant
Required:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in general ledger accounting or financial accounting.
- Effective communication and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and initiative in daily work activities.
- Knowledge of professional standards, ethical conduct, and accountability expectations.
- Ability to work proactively and effectively in a team as well as independently.
- Operate computer hardware and software at a level needed to effectively perform job functions.
- Must have the ability to perform CPR and properly use AED equipment. BLS certification training will be provided within the first 60 days of hire for client-facing staff, and CPR certification training will be provided within 120 days for all other staff. Certification must remain current.
