Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk
- Collect, review, and verify patient information including personal details, insurance data, and medical history
- Enter data accurately into Electronic Health Record (EHR) system EPIC
- Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software and coordinate follow-up care plans
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist patients with health insurance questions, including Medicare and Medicaid processes, ensuring proper documentation review
- Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Handle phone communication professionally, managing appointment inquiries and patient intake over the phone with excellent phone etiquette
- Support medical billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems, and insurance claim procedures
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless flow of patient information and care plans
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers
- Proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing processes, and documentation review
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and 10-key typing proficiency
- Prior clinic or medical office experience demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare workflows
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies to safeguard sensitive patient information
