Log Accountant

Cascade Hardwood in Chehalis, WA, a leading manufacturer of hardwood lumber for over 60 years, has an immediate opening for a Log Accountant.

The Log Accountant will be responsible for all accounting functions related to the purchasing, selling, and inventory management of logs, and provides essential support to our Log Procurement Group. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with internal team members, external partners, and related inquiries.

Key Skills:

• Knowledge of the forest products or timber industry
• Strong accounting skills, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger
• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy—ideally someone who takes pride in producing precise work
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
• Proficiency in 3 Log is desired but not required

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting activities related to log purchasing, timber sales, chips and inventory for 2 mills and 5 satellite yards
• Review, interpret, and apply contract terms accurately into 3 Log
• Prepare, calculate, and file timber and related industry tax reports
• Collaborate closely with Log Buyers, vendors, and accounting
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness in all accounting records and reporting
• Monthly closing and journal entries
• Reports
• Tracking advances and holdbacks
• Manage 3Log
• Internal and External Audits
• Administer Docusign

Education Requirements:

• Associate degree in accounting, business, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
