What are the responsibilities and job description for the Thermal Engineer position at Cascade Geomatics?
Company Description Cascade Geomatics helps Rail, Mining, and Department of Transportation operators move from reactive maintenance to proactive geohazard risk management. The company delivers terrain intelligence by transforming complex mountain environments and infrastructure corridors into live 3D digital twins. Its platform integrates ruggedized field sensing with advanced analytics to detect subtle environmental changes early. This enables forecasting of avalanche, rockfall, and landslide hazards before they become catastrophic events, supporting safer and more reliable operations.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Thermal Engineer role based in Corvallis, OR. The Thermal Engineer will design, analyze, and optimize thermal systems that support ruggedized sensing equipment and related infrastructure in challenging outdoor environments. Daily responsibilities include performing detailed thermal analyses, modeling heat transfer in electronic and mechanical systems, and developing thermal management solutions for field-deployed hardware. The role involves collaborating with hardware, mechanical, and software teams to integrate thermal designs into new and existing products, validating performance through testing, and iterating designs based on field data. The Thermal Engineer will also document designs, contribute to engineering standards, and support troubleshooting of thermal performance issues in deployed systems.
