JOB TITLE: Team Leader- Quality 

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Great Lakes/Quality

DATE DEVELOPED: 7/2026

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

POSITION SCOPE

Proactively identifies risks, troubleshoots quality issues, and champions comprehensive quality training across manufacturing personnel.  Follows up to ensure training is effective.  

Provides support to assist in problem solving and continuous improvement activities.  Facilitates the completion and follow-up (through closure) of Product, Quality System, and Layered Process Audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Quality Auditors – provide training, feedback, direction.  Ensure inspections are being performed as required and appropriate follow up actions are taken as needed.
  • Identify potential and actual quality concerns to lower risk of Non-conforming product being made and escaping to the customer
  • Troubleshoot /Problem Solve when quality issues are identified to assist in solution
  • Perform New Hire Orientation – Quality 
  • Assist in the training of current manufacturing personnel ensuring QMS and product compliance
  • Perform Verification of Training – Quality System/Part Quality
  • Manage the End of Line Inspection equipment (verifying proper use of the Master/ Test parts)
  • Monitor gauges – ensuring that all are accounted for and calibrated.
  • Assist in prevention/detection for systemic quality concerns
  • Assist in management of Quality Alerts – creating/training/follow up 
  • Audit Die Cast and 2nd ops 
  • Works with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Maintenance, as needed to ensure issues are addressed and resolved
  • Assists in improvement of Quality KPI’s such as Cost of Quality, Quality Incidents, and Internal Scrap.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement.
  • Communicates, engages, and participates in a positive and professional manner with all levels of associates.
  • Supports 5-S efforts and completes tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Complies with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs. Performs duties in compliance quality, safety, and manufacturing requirements. 
  • Build positive relationships and work cooperatively with associates in a team environment. 
  • Models and exemplifies Company Core Values.
  • Works required schedule based on business demands. 
  • Other duties assigned from time-to-time.  
Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE: 
REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • General knowledge and 3 or more years’ experience of casting, machining operations and processes preferred. 10 or more years of manufacturing operations and process support required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Die Cast Defects
  • Experience with training and supporting manufacturing personnel and support groups (process work instructions, defect training, quality systems training).
  • Experience in Problem Solving

PREFERRED: 

  • High School Diploma preferred.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to continuously and repetitively: 
    • Bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work. 
    • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. 
    • Promptly detect and respond to visual and auditory safety instructions, alarms, and signals. 
    • Wear personal protective equipment on plant floor, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes. 
    • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
  • Frequently and repetitively:
    • Sit at a computer for prolonged periods of time. 
  • Occasionally
  • Lift or carry materials weight up to 20 pounds and periodically care or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs. 
  • Recognizes potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
