Role Description The Mortgage Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role located in Roseburg, OR. This role is responsible for originating mortgage loans, meeting with current and prospective members to understand their home financing needs, and guiding them through the application process from pre-qualification to closing. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating borrower financial information, explaining loan programs and terms, collecting and verifying documentation, and coordinating with underwriting and processing teams to ensure timely, accurate decisions. The position also involves maintaining detailed records, adhering to regulatory and internal lending policies, and providing clear, respectful communication throughout the loan process. Qualifications
- Experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar lending role, with a strong understanding of member-focused financial services.
- Knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and current mortgage products, regulations, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience in Mortgage Lending, including originating, processing, and closing residential mortgage loans.
- Familiarity with Underwriting principles and the ability to evaluate creditworthiness and financial risk within established guidelines.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, including excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines effectively.
- Comfort with loan origination systems and standard office software; ability to learn new tools quickly.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to regulatory compliance and ethical lending practices.
- Preferred: prior experience in a credit union or community financial institution; NMLS registration or eligibility to obtain it.
