The Assistant Supervisor provides both clinical services to individuals served in the CCBHC clinic and oversight for clinical and other support staff. Under the support of the Clinical Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor serves as a mentor/coach delivering guidance, training, and clinical support to clinical and support staff. The Assistant Supervisor also provides diagnostic assessments, interventions, referrals, and behavioral health treatment in both individual and group settings. Services occur within the context of a multidisciplinary treatment team approach.

This position is Monday through Friday hours TBD.

Essential Job Functions

Supervisory Functions

· Assist the Clinical Supervisor in overseeing the day-to –day operations of outpatient clinic team ensuring motivation, compliance and performance levels are maintained as directed.

· Provides coverage for Clinical Supervisor during leave/absences or other pertinent situations as needed.

· Facilitate treatment team meetings in the Clinical Supervisor’s absence as needed.

· Assist with crisis situations and utilize critical thinking skills for problem solving in Clinical Supervisor’s absence as needed.

· Supervision with clinical staff and/or interns as assigned.

· Works with Clinical Supervisor on implementation of quality improvement projects and other clinical initiatives.

· Assists with minor administrative tasks as it relates to billing, compliance, and productivity as assigned by Clinical Supervisor or program director.

Counselor Functions

· Performs initial and ongoing diagnostic assessment, appropriately utilizes clinical screening tools, admission assessment, and collateral contacts to determine appropriate level of care for behavioral health treatment.

· Provides individual, family and group counseling, therapeutic intervention, and/or psychoeducation to clients to assist them in recognizing problems and causal factors related behavioral health symptoms and developing alternative/coping behaviors.

· Participates in collaborative treatment and goal planning activities with consumers to assist them in their recovery and coping with other social determinate of health and other needs.

· Meets productivity requirements by utilizing various techniques to engage clients and maintain an acceptable case load which engages and motivates clients throughout treatment.

· Intervene to help provide therapeutic interactions and evidence base practices to foster consumers’ social, cognitive, and behavioral skill development.

· Effectively utilizes agency’s medical records software program(s) to complete required medical record documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner and in compliance with NYS OASAS, OMH, CARF, and federal regulations including Public Health Law, 42CFR and patient confidentiality policies.

Secondary Functions

· Collaborate with other care providers and referral sources to increase understanding of individuals’ limitations and assets.

· Establish working relationships with legal entities and other referral sources.

· Participates as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary team in coordination and delivery of client care.

· Participates in professional supervision and education that supports continuous improvement of client care including weekly case management staff meetings.

· Consistently reviews policies and procedures and stays abreast of current laws, regulations and policies.

· Must retain QHP Credential

· Performs other related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Intermediary to advanced knowledge of behavioral health diagnosis and their effects on the individual and family members including human behavior, attitudes, and motivations and their applicability in the treatment/rehabilitation of the individual.

· Intermediary knowledge of behavioral health counseling and treatment principles, practices, and techniques and competent knowledge of individual and group behavior including interviewing techniques.

· Familiar with the resources available to individuals with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis.

· Ability to recognize symptoms and history of onset and elicit information concerning underlying reasons for behavioral health diagnosis

· Ability to effectively manage a caseload of mental health clients, conduct behavioral health assessments, write bio-psychosocial assessment summaries, and develop client progress reports and evaluations.

· Ability to accurately prepare and maintain documentation of services, treatment records, and reports utilizing computer databases and software programs including proficiency with spreadsheets.

· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the general public.

· Use a computer including keyboard and mouse operations; visual and/or auditory capacity.

· The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

The Assistant Supervisor must be able to prioritize situations and manage time and may find that they are needed at irregular hours causing fatigue and stress. The Assistant Supervisor may experience stress and stress related symptoms due to interacting with clients in crisis. S/he may be exposed to illness and unsanitary conditions so must take care to protect their own health. They may also have to manage physically threatening clients and be prepared to be responsible for their own safety, and the safety of others.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in human services or related field from an accredited institution. Licensed in the state of NY as a LCSW, LMSW, or LMHC, LMFT highly preferred. License Permit accepted (LMSW-P, LMHC-P, etc.) Experience in clinical counseling activities in a mental health clinical setting is highly preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license. This position is subject to a criminal background clearance.

Must successfully complete additional training requirements based on NYS OASAS standards, which include:

- Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) – 3 hours

- Clinical Supervision Foundations I and II – 30 hours

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
