Position Summary

The Director of Social Services oversees the Social Services Department and programs and services that support individuals' social, emotional, mental, and physical well being. The role combines social services oversight, health promotion, staff leadership, and strategic planning to improve quality of life and ensure access to essential resources for the latino community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review cases with social services and mental health coordinators and provide guidance.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff for mental health, Steps for Autism Family Education ( SAFE), and health and wellness programs, interns, and volunteers.
  • Lead and manage social services and wellness programs.
  • Supervise case management services for the clients in the SAFE program.
  • Supervise the social service manager and the delivery of case management services
  • Develop strategic initiatives that promote health and wellness education for the community.
  • Ensure appropriate assessments are conducted to accurately identify client needs.
  • Coordinate care and referrals with healthcare providers, community agencies, and support organizations.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and client outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and organizational policies.
  • Manage departmental resources to ensure they are allocated effectively.
  • Promote health education, preventive care, and wellness activities for the community.
  • Develop new initiatives and partnerships with other healthcare organizations
  • Advocate for clients and community members.
  • Develop crisis management procedures for social services and mental health.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public events.
  • Analyze program data and outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and privacy standards.
  • Develop reports and presentations for executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Implement quality assurance and risk management practices.
  • Manage program budgets and determine client eligibility for financial assistance.

Education and Experience

  • Required bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mental health, Social Services, or public health
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with program evaluation and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking tools (e.g., Excel, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms).
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus.
  • Demonstrate strong time management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and being able to administrate and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Knowledgeable about available resources for Latino immigrants
  • Experience with trauma-informed care

Working Conditions:

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Local travel to program sites and partner locations.
  • While performing the duties this job requires, the employee is regularly required to sit, to talk, to hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Employees may occasionally lift and/or move objects of up to 20 pounds.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
