POSITION SUMMARY:

The Guidance Counselor will assist the Site Principal with student schedules, graduation rates, testing, scholarships to enhance student achievement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona Guidance Counselor Certificate and/or AZ Teaching Certificate
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Experience with Powerschool PREFERRED
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Ability to use constructive techniques to resolve issues
- Solid communication skills with students and adults
- Solid organizational skills
- Demonstrates organizational ability
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates the Master Schedule and coordinates student schedules with staff.
- Responsible for student enrollment, drops, and graduation status.
- Coordinates with feeder schools for open enrollment, placement testing and site visits.
- Responsible for assisting with testing coordination.
- Provides training for all staff in the areas of testing guidelines and graduation guidelines.
- Coordinates and attends all necessary meetings.
- Works closely with Site Principal in meeting the needs of Federal, State and local reports and requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salaryrecommendations.
- Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results.
- Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to assure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce.
