Position Summary
The Community Engagement Coordinator builds strong community connections to grow our volunteer base. This role is responsible for representing the organization in the community and recruiting and screening new volunteer advocates. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Kids of East Texas represents the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Our trained community volunteers advocate for children in foster care, helping to ensure they have a safe, permanent, and nurturing home, identifying needs, and making recommendations in court.
Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Recruitment and Community Outreach
· Represent CASA at community fairs, meetings, and events to recruit volunteers and promote the mission.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment plan with action steps and goals.
· Identify, schedule, and coordinate community engagement opportunities to increase visibility and attract diverse volunteers.
2. Volunteer Onboarding, Training and Continuing Education:
· Conduct interviews, background checks, and reference checks for prospective volunteers.
· Facilitate pre-service volunteer advocate training using effective adult learning techniques, including logistics such as room set-up and refreshments.
3. Volunteer Recognition and Retention:
· Assist with recognition events and other volunteer appreciation activities.
· Develop meaningful engagement opportunities that connect volunteers with CASA’s mission.
4. Date Management:
· Maintain accurate volunteer records, including contact information, references, compliance documents, and training records.
· Ensure compliance with CASA standards and grant requirements related to volunteer management.
5. Organizational Support:
· Assist with organizational events.
· Assist with phones and greeting/admitting guests
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent training and experience.
· At least three years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or recruiting. Prefer experience in all areas.
· Knowledge and skills in adult learning techniques with the ability to facilitate training for diverse audiences, with varying learning styles.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and training sessions.
· Ability to maintain confidential information.
· Must have reliable transportation.
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and set up displays at events.

· Must be at least 21 years of age and pass all background checks.
