Position Title: Resource / Learning Specialist,
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, 4 days a week / 30 hours per week
Salary: $30.00 to $42.00 per hour
Reports To: Head of School with dotted line to level leads
Starting Aug 2026 – School year position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Resource / Learning Specialist is responsible for guiding students (preschool through middle school) with learning difficulties at Casa di Mir. Working directly with teachers, students, parents, and consultants on assessing students, create and implement specialized academic instruction, including Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) related to the needs of exceptional children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assess, monitor and evaluate students on a regular basis to determine present performance levels, learning styles and areas of disability
- Prepare and maintain records, reports, files and documentation as required by Leads and HOS along with regulations and laws
- Uphold confidentiality guidelines pertaining to students and their families
- Assume primary responsibility for development and implementation of the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and follow up IEP meetings
- Provide direct instruction, appropriate accommodations, modifications, individualized materials, and services to students to ensure successful progress towards student goals and objectives
- Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, and instructional planning process of all relevant neurodivergent programming as a member of the IEP Team
- Assume responsibility for writing annual goals and short-term objectives of Individual Educational Plans and other accommodation documents
- Develop lesson plans as well as instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
- Assist in creating an effective environment for child-center learning
- Evaluate student’s academic and social growth based on goals and objectives; collaborate on appropriate records, including progress reports
- Responsible of case management for each applicable student
- Communicate with parents through a variety of means to discuss pupil progress
- Establish a good relationship through participation in faculty committees and meetings
- Provide consultation and support services to guides/teachers for students
- Arrange for and conduct appropriate assessment need to define pupils' specific learning needs and provide specialized areas of instruction
- Provide in-service training regarding neurodivergent students, and the learning of materials appropriate to meeting students' individual needs
QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of and ability to implement the subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts relative to the duties and responsibilities listed in this job description.
· Experience working with individuals with emotional disorders and/or challenging behaviors
· Minimum of three years’ experience working with adolescents & teaching
· Bachelor’s degree in related subject
· Teaching Credential for Moderate Disabilities/Education Specialist is desired
· Ability to relate to children and adults in a friendly, mature and professional manner.
· Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully and complete work that is accurate in a timely manner
