What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resort Director of Engineering position at Casa de Fruta?
The Director of Engineering will oversee all engineering operations for our group of businesses in California, ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and development of our potable water treatment facility, wastewater treatment facility, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, work order system, and all other mechanical needs. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills, capable of managing a diverse team and complex systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the engineering team (construction, building and grounds maintenance), providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of all engineering systems.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the potable water treatment facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Manage the design, installation, and maintenance of HVAC systems and refrigeration units, optimizing energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement and maintain a work order system to track maintenance activities and prioritize work orders.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the seamless operation of all mechanical systems.
- Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices, implementing new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Professional engineering license preferred or a minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering and facilities management, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and best practices.
