Role Overview (multiple positions available):
The College Advisor offers high-touch, individualized support to high school juniors and seniors as they prepare for college, technical training, or other career pathways. This role guides students through academic planning, college selection, admissions applications, and financial aid. The College Advisor builds strong relationships, maintains detailed case notes, and collaborates closely with schools, families, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and advise a caseload of high school students on college and post-secondary planning
- Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions focused on academic planning, career exploration, and college readiness
- Support students through applications, admissions, and financial aid processes
- Track and document student progress for internal reporting and program improvements
- Build partnerships with school staff, community organizations, and post-secondary institutions
- Utilize data to identify trends and inform advising strategies
- Provide guidance and emotional support during high-stress application periods
- Participate in occasional evening/weekend events as needed
Qualifications (required):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an academic or youth-serving setting preferred
- Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and academic planning
- Strong communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized documentation
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
