What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Technician or Senior Equipment Technician position at Carver County?
Under the guidance of the Fleet Operations Supervisor, the Senior Equipment Technician coordinates and performs a variety of complex and routine duties involved in the maintenance and repair of all County vehicles and equipment. Provides mentorship, guidance and support for equipment technicians, seasonal helpers, and sentence to serve individuals. Provides input to Fleet Operations Supervisor for vehicle and equipment replacement and schedules and performs preventative maintenance, Department of Transportation inspections, assists in obtaining specifications for equipment, and makes sure all specifications are met.
Tools and toolbox will be provided by Carver County.
This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing under 49 CFR Part 382 and 49 CFR Part 40.

Equipment Technician
The minimum qualifications for each position are included below:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year experience in automotive, truck, and/or equipment repair
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Minnesota Class A Driver's License with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Ability to pass CJIS fingerprinting
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years experience in automotive, truck, and/or equipment repair
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class A Driver's License with tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Ability to pass CJIS fingerprinting
One or more of the following with the ability to obtain other endorsements within 12 months of hire:
- A Valid Minnesota Class A Driver's License with tanker endorsement
- A Minnesota DOT Vehicle Inspector Certificate
- 1 year trade or technical school in a field related to auto and/or truck repair
