JOB GOAL
The Director of Professional Learning Communities and School Improvement provides leadership and direct support to school administrators and staff in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of school improvement efforts. Leads the development and delivery of high-quality professional learning and oversees effective PLCs across schools and grade levels to strengthen collaboration, culture, and student achievement. Guides the use of multiple data sources to identify needs, root causes, and solutions, and supports cycles of inquiry, instructional leadership, and integrated action planning to ensure continuous, sustainable school improvement.

Qualifications
- Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate
- Administrative experience (Preferred principal or district-level leadership)
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in grades K8
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Provides leadership and direct support to school administrators and staff in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating school improvement efforts.
- Leads the development and implementation of effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) districtwide.
- Builds shared understanding and commitment to PLC practices focused on student learning.
- Guides principals and leadership teams in establishing and sustaining collaborative, high-functioning teacher teams.
- Supports schools in using multiple data sources to identify needs, root causes, and targeted solutions
- Facilitates cycles of inquiry and continuous improvement aligned to school and district goals.
- Develops and delivers professional learning on PLCs, data analysis, instructional leadership, and effective teaching practices.
- Supports the development and monitoring of school Integrated Action Plans and continuous improvement goals.
- Collaborates with district departments to align curriculum, instruction, and interventions to Arizona standards.
- Partners with the Director of Assessment and Data to strengthen data literacy and effective use of assessments.
- Supports principals in monitoring instruction and the effectiveness of collaborative team practices.
- Develops tools and processes for tracking progress of PLCs and school improvement efforts.
- Collaborates with Federal Programs to ensure compliance with school improvement and accountability requirements.
- Supports implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) through a PLC and improvement lens.
- Coordinates with the Director of Teaching and Learning to provide guidance and professional learning for curricula to improve student outcomes, with a clear focus on Tier 1 instruction.
- Assists in coordinating budgets related to professional learning, curriculum, and school improvement.
- Facilitates collaboration across Educational Services departments to support district initiatives
- Develops and maintains communication systems to inform stakeholders of school improvement progress.
- Prepares reports and presentations for district leadership and the Governing Board.
- Supports curriculum development aligned to continuous improvement priorities.
- Models best practices in data analysis, standards alignment, and instructional planning.
- Participates in program evaluation to assess effectiveness of district initiatives.
- Maintains active engagement with state, regional, and national school improvement networks.
- Works collaboratively with district and school teams to ensure alignment and coherence of improvement efforts.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design and instructional best practices
- Demonstrated leadership in professional development for teachers and administrators
- Knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards, including English Language Learner standards
- Expertise in data analysis, assessment systems, and program evaluation
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate data to varied audiences
- Experience developing and monitoring district and school assessment plans
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Understanding of best teaching practices in English Language Arts and Mathematics
- Experience with school improvement planning, including Comprehensive Needs Assessments (CNA) and Integrated Action Plans (IAPs)
- Knowledge of federal and state accountability systems
- Experience evaluating instructional materials and programs
- Demonstrated fiscal awareness and experience with educational budgeting
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and team leadership skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and independent decision-making abilities
- May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Some positions may require climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
