Network Administrator

Job Description

The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of our computer networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The Network Administrator will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required. The Network Administrator reports directly to the IT Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the performance, reliability, and compliance of CWEP computer networks. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain residential, business, and internal computer networks and firewalls.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Utilize protocols such as BGP to multi-home, VRRP for edge router redundancy, MPLS for high performance multi-protocol data transport, VPLS for layer two hand offs and GPON for high density, low cost FTTx deployments.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls and Intrusion Protection Systems.
  • Configure and maintain CWEP’s internal enterprise voice solution including maintaining updated holiday schedule for automated call handling.
  • Oversee day to day IT Help Desk operations to ensure we provide the highest level of customer service to our coworkers and customers.
  • Design and implement innovative 802.x solutions to increase range and throughput of wireless infrastructure.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as required or assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferred); 5 years’ experience as a network technician, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability, and skillset.

Licensing/Certification:

  • Mikrotik Certified Routing Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Administrator, and/or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Class E Missouri Driver’s license
  • First Aid/CPR/AED first responder certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate network management, routing and switching, virtual infrastructure management, VOIP systems, and broadband administration.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and consult with vendors and clients.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment and field construction sites; with some travel required.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.27 - $46.34 per hour
