Carthage Water & Electric Plant (CWEP) is accepting applications for a Facility & Fleet Maintenance I position. Duties
- In this position, you will help keep CWEP’s buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment safe, clean, and in reliable working condition. Typical responsibilities include:
- Performing preventive maintenance and basic repairs.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A valid CDL driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Basic mechanical and maintenance skills.
- The ability to safely operate common tools and equipment.
- Strong dependability, initiative, and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in facility maintenance, automotive repair, construction, groundskeeping, or a related field is preferred.
Applicants must be able to perform physically demanding work in indoor and outdoor environments. Occasional overtime, after-hours work, weekends, holidays, or emergency response assignments may be required.
- Inspecting buildings, vehicles, equipment, and grounds.
- Assisting with basic automotive and equipment maintenance.
- Completing minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general facility repairs.
- Maintaining lawns, landscaping, and exterior areas.
- Assisting with snow and ice removal.
- Operating hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and other assigned equipment.
- Maintaining records of inspections, maintenance, and completed repairs.
- Supporting other departments during projects and emergency situations.
