NSHA- Carthage Hospital-Security Guard-Nights- Full Time- Various shift- Requisition 9361

Pay Range: $19.64-$25.04*

This position is primarily 7p-7a. You will also be rotated to work days as needed on Saturday and Sunday.

Job Summary:

The Security Guard is responsible for policing hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Assists staff with unruly visitors and patients, alleviates facility safety and environmental conditions. Take any intervention with patients, comes from direction of the medical staff, both verbal and nonverbal.

Duties:

• Periodically tours buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and not tampered with

  • Check all hospital doors on an hourly basis.

  • File a completed DAR each shift and email to appropriate directors at the end of each shift.

  • Check physician offices and mobiles at least twice a shift.

  • Check parking lots throughout their shift, by camera or by foot patrol.

• Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or telephones police for assistance, according to circumstances

• Alerts Hospital staff that the fire department and hospital personnel in event a fire needs to be extinguished.

• Patrols hospital grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles both physically and by cameras.

• Checks cars and verifies if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as fire zones, turnarounds, ambulance entrances or reserved parking spaces

• Checks exterior lighting and access routes to emergency and fire entrances.

• Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested.

• Answers visitor's questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas within the hospital

Qualifications:

• Previous experience and holders of Guard Cards will be prioritized when setting interviews

• Ability to speak read and write English and follow written and oral instructions

• Up to 3 months on-the-job training to learn location of safety and plant equipment

• Must possess a valid New York State unarmed security guard license or equivalent, IE. Police or Corrections Officer.

Lifting Requirements Lifting:

Heavy is considered lifting 100 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May stand for up to 8 hours a day, walks and climb stairs, and ladders while on duty. Field of vision needed to detect unauthorized persons, malfunctioning equipment, or fire, works inside and out.

• The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts. This rate does not include the overnight shift differential of $1.75
