Carteret Marine Services is seeking an experienced Marine Construction Foreman with strong heavy-equipment operating experience, specifically operating excavators from a barge.
This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate must be capable of leading a marine construction crew while actively participating in field operations. We are not looking for someone who only wants to supervise from the shoreline.

- Plan and sequence daily field operations

- Coordinate labor, materials, barges, boats and equipment

- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety requirements
- Monitor workmanship and maintain quality-control standards
- Communicate schedules, needs and field conditions to project management
- Complete required daily reports, equipment inspections and project documentation
- Hold crew members accountable for safety, attendance, productivity and equipment care
Required qualifications:
- Demonstrated excavator or heavy-equipment operating experience
- Construction crew-leadership or foreman experience
- Ability to read construction plans and understand work sequencing
- Strong safety awareness and sound field judgment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in marine and changing weather conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with crews and management
Strongly preferred qualifications:
- Experience operating an excavator from a floating barge
- Marine construction, heavy-civil or waterfront construction experience
- Experience with barges, spuds, push boats, tides and currents
- Pile-driving or sheet-pile installation experience
- Rigging, lifting and signal-person experience
- Experience performing construction layout
Compensation:
$60,000–$80,000 annually, based on marine construction leadership experience and demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment from a barge.
