JOB RELATIONSHIPS
- Responsible to: Radiology Director and Cath Lab Supervisor
DEFINITION OF POSITION
- Cardiac Catheterization Technologist will perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional
- Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training
- Completion of one year of Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath training
- ACLS certification within 3 months of employment and annually thereafter required
- One year experience as a Cardiac Cath Technologist
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training; and/or RCIS.
Personal
- Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and staff.
- Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
- Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients.
- Must be able to work near blood, bodily fluids and a strong magnetic field.
Physical
- Stamina -Capable of sitting/standing/walking for long periods of time.
- Strength - Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients.
- Reflexes/Agility -Minimally capable of:
- Stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending.
- Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies, i.e. fire.
- Hearing and Visual Acuity
- Capable of hearing and responding to patients and staff with inquiries.
- Visual acuity that permits reading, writing, monitoring office equipment, i.e., computers, copy machines.
- Dexterity - Hand dexterity permitting efficient operation of office machines i.e., computers, copy machines, and writing skills to facilitate documentation of messages, correspondence, etc.
