What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN PACU position at Carteret General Hospital?
- JOB RELATIONSHIPS
- Supervises RNs and other Surgical Services employees; responsible to Clinical Director of Surgical Services and/or designee.
- DEFINITION OF POSITION
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of assigned patients. The PACU nurse renders intensive nursing care to patients during the immediate post-operative phase. The PACU nurse may also be responsible for assisting in immediate pre-operative preparation such as transporting to Operating Room, epidural or regional block administration and monitoring/documentation of patients receiving conscious sedation in the holding area. The PACU staff nurse must work in close collaboration with the CRNA, anesthesiologist, surgeon, and other surgical Services staff for coordination of services to meet patient needs.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- ACLS and PALS certifications upon hire or completion of these within 6 months of employment.
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- At least one year of progressive nursing experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit or other related field preferred.
- Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing appropriate to the practice setting.
- Professional certification preferred.
