An established and growing wealth management firm serving the greater Chicago area for over 20 years is seeking an experienced Lead Financial Planner / Service Advisor to join its collaborative advisory team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Financial Advisor who is passionate about retirement planning, comprehensive wealth management, and building meaningful long-term client relationships. The firm operates in a team-based “pod” structure and oversees approximately $350M in assets for 700 families.
This role is primarily focused on financial planning and client service, with limited prospecting responsibilities.
Position OverviewThe Lead Planner / Service Advisor serves as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients and delivers holistic financial planning solutions. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping clients achieve financial security.
Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the main point of contact for assigned clients
Prepare comprehensive financial planning recommendations
Develop and track retirement income plans
Create investment portfolio summaries and asset allocation analyses
Analyze and prepare financial planning reports
Utilize tax planning software to evaluate strategies
Review insurance illustrations (life, annuities, long-term care)
Conduct regular client review meetings
Collaborate with advisors and team members on client cases
Proactively maintain client relationships and follow-ups
Minimum 3 years of direct client-facing experience as a Financial Planner
Series 65 or Series 66 license (Required)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency
Highly detail-oriented and accurate
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Professional, friendly, and relationship-focused demeanor
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation
CFP designation must be obtained within 2 years of hire if not currently held
Life Insurance License (must obtain within 6 months if not currently licensed)
Strong passion for financial and retirement planning
