Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Business Development Specialist. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, conducting market research, and assisting with the creation of marketing materials. The role involves collaborating with attorneys to develop strategic initiatives and attending networking events to promote the firm's services. This position is located in New York, NY, with the flexibility to work from home on certain days.
Marketing Specialist, Practice Development
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Marketing Specialist to join our Practice Development team and support the growth of our firm's key practice areas. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into impactful marketing initiatives while working collaboratively with attorneys and firm leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Group Support
- Work with practice groups to develop and execute targeted marketing plans that support business development goals and enhance market positioning
- Coordinate directory submissions and integrate with workflow (bios, practice desriptions)
- Experience management
- Support RFP processes from intake through submission, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery
Content Development & Thought Leadership
- Support development, promtion and publication of client alerts, articles, blog posts, case studies, and other content that demonstrates firm expertise
- Help to develop compelling attorney biographies, practice descriptions, and matter descriptions for pitches and marketing materials
- Coordinate speaking opportunities, webinars, and CLE presentations to elevate attorney profiles
- Support the creation of client-facing materials including pitch decks, service line brochures, and email campaigns
Business Development Support
- Assist attorneys with target account planning and relationship mapping
- Track business development activities and pipeline opportunities
- Prepare materials for client meetings and new business pitches
Digital Marketing & Communications
- Support overall practice strategy with email marketing campaigns using marketing automation platforms
- Work with attorneys on client and contact lists for email marketing segmentation (including managing bouncebacks and researching updated contact info)
- Monitor and report on digital marketing metrics and campaign performance
- Refine SEO strategy and online visibility initiatives
Events & Relationship Marketing
- Support attorney participation in conferences and industry events including contacts management
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of marketing experience in a law firm environment (law firm experience is required)
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Strong project management abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and marketing automation platforms
- Understanding of legal industry trends, business development practices, and attorney marketing needs
