Pressman Sheetfed Press - 3rd Shift

The second pressman will be responsible for assisting the Press operator in the safe operation of the assigned Printing press. 

What you’ll do as a Pressman:

• Maintain efficient production meeting company production goals and standards.
• Follow instructions from job ticket and sets up press according to job specifications directed by press operator
•  Assist in staging materials needed and organizing them for production of each job, maintain communication with press operator regarding stock levels and materials in advance so we dont experience any down time
• Load all paper lifts in press including make ready books when assisting on startup, ensure that all guides are set and sheet detectors working properly, assist in register of image fit at make ready and throughout production run
• Monitor consistency of sheet at feeder maintaining proper pull and register of sheet
• Assist press operator in checking sheet pulls during run and maintaining proper ink levels and run quantities
• Assist in cleaning of the blankets, cylinders, coatings, rollers, fountain trays, fountain solutions and washing units; keep press and surrounding work area clean 
• Assist in keeping work flow moving during transitions set up to finish
• Assist on floor with moving stock and cleaning of area on a consistent basis 
• Assist in maintaining inventory to press ink, rags, solvents etc
• Assist in moving and marking finished loads to finished work area of pressroom
• Check turned and winded loads; mark side guides and ensure that no damage paper enters press
• Measuring qualities and matching to stock pull quantities 
•  Engage in training of press operation, pressroom standards, and technology

 We’re looking for a Pressman with:

Knowledge 

• Ability to read and apply engineering requirements on a per job basis 
• Ability to carry out instructions and perform at a high level of quality in the operation of the printed product 
• 1-2 years of Printing experience 
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and attention to detail 
• Has a strong math background and mechanical inclination 
• Positive Safety attitude

Physical requirements and working conditions: 

Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:

• Stand for an 8 hour shift 
• Repetitively grasp, pinch, push and pull with arms, hands, occasionally simultaneously with and without mechanical assisted devices
• Frequently transfer objects and materials weighing up to 25 pounds
• Reach above shoulder height to work, bending and stooping occasionally to work at different heights 
• Safety mount, dismount and operate mobile equipment 
• Move from one area to another in the department around equipment, climb stairs, platforms and ladders 
• This Pressman position is located on-site in our Erlanger, Ky facility
