Job Summary
CARSTAR Prestige Collision is seeking a highly detail-oriented Disassembly Technician to support our production team through accurate vehicle teardown, inspection, and documentation. This role is essential to ensuring complete repair plans by identifying all visible and hidden damage during the blueprinting process.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute CARSTAR blueprinting and DFR disassembly procedures on all repair orders
- Perform complete vehicle disassembly following initial estimate to uncover hidden or supplemental damage
- Conduct thorough inspections of internal structural components and mechanical systems
- Document all additional damage, including parts, blend panels, clips, fasteners, moldings, and one-time-use components
- Submit detailed supplement reports to the Estimator and Production Manager
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure accurate repair planning and workflow efficiency
- Assist Metal Technicians with reassembly as needed
- Perform light non-structural repairs including sanding, finishing, and minor bumper repairs
- Complete final assembly including trim, moldings, and detailing components
- Participate in daily production and release meetings
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards and procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; collision repair vocational training preferred
- Previous experience in vehicle disassembly, blueprinting, or collision repair preferred
- I-CAR, ASE, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred
- Proficient with hand tools and disassembly equipment
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Repetitive motion tasks
Work Environment
- Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and varying temperatures
- Moderate to high noise levels
