Assistant Professor of Accounting

Assistant Professor of Accounting Carson-Newman University is a Christian, liberal arts-based University built upon the Lordship of Jesus Christ as evidenced historically and revealed in the Scriptures. Job Title: Assistant Professor of Accounting Department: Business Reports To: Chair, Department of Business Location: On-site FLSA Status: Exempt Time Requirements: 9 month Supervisory Responsibilities: N Summary Description: The ideal candidate for this tenure-track position will have a passion for teaching, a strong commitment to scholarly activities, and a desire to contribute to the academic and professional development of students. Essential Functions: As an intentionally Christian academic community, Christian employees are hired to advance the mission of Carson-Newman as expressed in our strategic plan, Acorns to Oaks. To plan and deliver lectures, develop course assignments and grade student work. To advise and mentor students on academic paths and career matters. To update and revise current course materials, in addition to developing new courses or programs as needed. To support the University through committee service and attendance at required events. To conduct the appropriate level of research and/or attend conferences to stay current in field of expertise. Education: Candidates for the position must have a minimum of a Master of Accountancy or a terminal degree in a related business field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in accounting and a CPA. Candidates with 18 graduate semester hours in law and/or teaching experience are preferred. Experience: Preferably at least 1 year of teaching experience.
