General Description of the job to be performed:

Carry It Forward is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to reducing suffering and ending homelessness in Lane County. Our approach is harm-reduction, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. We primarily serve individual adults and couples, through multiple venues and projects, including shelters, Safe Sleep Sites, and outreach services.

Our Support Team fulfills all logistics and basic client support within our camps, shelters, and other sites. The Support worker has working knowledge of camp rules and processes, and assists clients in gaining access to basic needs. This position includes light janitorial, cleaning, and maintenance duties. This position requires high attention to detail and ability to follow directions from the Site Supervisor.

Essential job tasks to be performed:

  • After completion of training period, maintains punctual time and regular hours
  • Demonstrates good judgment regarding completing tasks while maintaining professional boundaries and safety
  • Provides basic support to clients within our sites
  • Delivers supplies to assigned sites
  • Reports relevant and accurate information to Site Supervisor
  • Utilizes appropriate channels of communication
  • Communicates realistic expectations to clients
  • Participates in team documentation as assigned
  • Follows direction of Site Supervisor in daily assignments
  • Performs hourly safety checks

Preferred knowledge, skills, experience, education or training needed to perform job:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 years client service experience, preferably in human services or customer service, possess demonstrated commitment to client service
  • Professional or personal experience supporting individuals from vulnerable populations with disabilities, mental illnesses, or challenging behaviors highly preferred
  • Preferred A valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points within the last 3 years.
  • Preferred training in First Aid / CPR, food handler’s card, Blood Borne Pathogens and Hazardous Materials.
  • Preferred experience in driving a forklift, U-haul trucks

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Accurate and timely documentation
  • Integrityand strong work ethic
  • Must be over 21 years old
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands

  • Must interpret spoken and written communication in English.
  • Fluency in additional language is a plus
  • Must be able to move around for periods of time (3-4 hours).
  • May need to lift boxes and stacks of supplies. (10-30 pounds on an occasional basis)
  • May need to kneel to access donation resources.
  • Must access a range of sites and public places (e.g. manage stairs).

  • Basic use of yard equipment and tools
  • Personal computer and/or laptop computer.
  • Photocopier and printer.
  • Cell phone.
  • Occasional audio visual equipment and other equipment for performing study-related tasks.
  • Phone applications used for communication (Signal)
  • Google gmail and documents
