Now Hiring for the 2026 Summer Season! As a Spray Technician / Spray Driver, your primary responsibility will be to manage vegetation through the safe and effective application of herbicides in tree care and landscape environments. You will identify target vegetation, apply treatments using specialized equipment, and support overall vegetation management operations. Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Apply herbicides to control vegetation growth using equipment such as four-wheelers, six-wheelers, UTVs, and spray rigs.
- Identify target vegetation and ensure proper and accurate application techniques are used.
- Monitor vegetation conditions and assist in developing effective vegetation management strategies.
- Electronically record applications and maintain accurate, compliant documentation.
- Safely drive and operate vehicles and equipment within DOT, OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer regulations.
- Properly set up and maintain work zones to ensure safety for the crew and the public.
- Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials to job sites.
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate spray equipment to ensure proper function and application accuracy.
- Report equipment issues and assist with routine maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with general tree care operations such as pruning, removal support, and site cleanup as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Participate in team meetings, pre-job briefings, and company training sessions.
- Adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned. Changes in this job description may occur.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
- ATV license is required.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English to ensure safety of self and crew.
- Must be teachable, trainable, and willing to give and receive feedback and work direction.
- Previous experience in spray herbicide vegetation management is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the right aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Pesticide applicators license is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working around chemicals, tools, and heavy machinery.
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times per day.
- Exposure to dust, pollen, insects (including bees), and noxious plants such as poison ivy.
- Must be able to wear and use necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to communicate professionally, both verbal and in writing, with the general public, customers, and fellow employees.
- Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English.
- Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment within DOT, OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer regulations.
Job Details:
- Full-time/Part-time
- Seasonal (herbicide spraying is inherently seasonal work. Exact start and end dates are dependent on the timing of the change of seasons).
- Pay: $16.00-$23.00 per hour based on experience and licensing
- Expected Hours: 20-50 hours per week, dependent on weather and work availability
